Shepherd's Rest

Shepherds Rest

The very latest of our major updates, the Shepherd's Rest, sleeps 4, offers open-plan living, and has two bathrooms as well as the most amazing views.

This lovely accommodation has two bedrooms; a twin bedroom where both beds have electric adjustments of head, foot, and knee sections for improved comfort. For convenience, this bedroom has a lovely wet room immediately next door. At the other end of the cottage is a delightful double bedroom with a super-king bed and ample storage. Similar to the twin bedroom, this also has a shower room next door

A spacious, quite contemporary, newly-fitted kitchen, with fridge, freezer and dishwasher, complements the dining area and large open-plan lounge (complete with fully adjustable recliners).

Reviews

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in The Shepherds Rest. The cottage is extremely comfortable and well-equipped in every way for a disabled person (and of course able-bodied). The kitchen is very modern with loads of cupboard space, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. Not forgetting the induction hob!!!!
Good washing facilities and somewhere to charge the mobility scooter are a great asset.
We enjoyed watching the antics of the sheep at times when they were close to the cottage. The welcome and friendliness of you both is wonderful, like no other we have come across, so thank you for that.
We immediately felt at home.

We were blessed with beautiful weather in a wonderful location. The cottage was very comfortable and contained everything you might need. The disabled facilities were second
to none with a wet room adjacent to a room with electric beds. All the facilities were designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. The showers were excellent with plenty of hot water and a shower chair thoughtfully provided. The location was excellent with lots of things to see and do within a short driving distance. Found the Miles without stiles very useful for wheelchair-accessible walks with the whole family. Our group consisted of three generations and we all echoed the youngest member of the family who said ‘Can we come back?'

No EV Charging
EV Owners please noteThe cottages and farm electrical sockets are not suitable for charging Electric Vehicles (EV’s) as this puts excess unplanned load on our limited farm electrical infrastructure.  We are also prohibited, in our contract with our commercial electricity provider, from re-selling their electricity to third parties.  Electric vehicle charging is therefore not permitted at this time.  A list of available charge points is available via this link.
We provide charging for disability scooters and w/chairs free located in the Games Room.

Irton House Farm - Site Plan

Irton House Farm is a working sheep farm. The self-catering cottages (A -E on the plan) were originally converted from some of the farm outbuildings so sit close to the farmhouse and are easily accessible from the yard.

The pitches (1 - 6 on the plan) in the Orchard are accessed by the lane on the left just as you approach the farm from the road (to Orchard Car Park on plan). Pitches 7 to 12, in the Paddock, are accessed through the farm-yard.

All access roads are well maintained concrete giving way to grass once actually on the fields themselves.

Prices and availability for the cottages can be viewed on our Availability page whilst the same for the van/tent pitches is via our entry on PitchUp.com.

Please note that only pitch 7 (Causey) and pitch 8 (Wythop) have hard standing and are suitable for caravans. All have electric hookup - NOT suitable for EV charging.
