The Martins

This spacious self-catering cottage is the largest of our holiday lets and can sleep up to 6 people so is a great way for a family or group of friends to spend a break in the Lakes.
The Martins has recently been fully renovated and now offers fully accessible, wheelchair friendly, downstairs accommodation, finished to a very high standard. Plus, upstairs there are a further two bedrooms (one a twin or superking the other a superking) both of which are ensuite.
We are really pleased with the end result and think it will suit everyone, whatever their mobility - especially as it has both a bedroom and wetroom on the ground floor. We’re certain that our guests will not be disappointed!
Checkout our site layout below that shows the location of The Martins (B on the plan).
Living Areas
Right from the ramp to the wide front door every thought has been given to making the life of a wheelchair user as straightforward as possible. Once through the front door there is a wide hallway from which the main living areas, a twin bedroom and wet room are all readily accessible.
The living room is at the back of the cottage to make best use of the views and has direct access into the furnished patio area. The newly fitted and spacious kitchen is through the lounge and also has direct access onto the patio - great for outdoors dining and entertaining!
Bedrooms
The ground floor bedroom is spacious and comprises two fully electrically-adjustable beds as well as space for all your travel needs. There are views from the window and the bathroom is immediately next-door. For those requiring use of a hoist there are support brackets over one bed.
The two upstairs bedrooms are bright and spacious too. Both can be setup as either twins or superkings with one offering an ensuite bathroom whilst the other has an ensuite shower room.
Bathrooms
A full ground-floor wet-room, plus, on the first-floor, a large ensuite bathroom and an ensuite shower room - The Martins has them all!
Please note that we have a range of shower chairs available for those that need them (no additional cost) - please see the 'facilities page' for more details or email/call us.
Hi Lindsay I just wanted to send you a message to say thank you so much for our brilliant stay at Irton Farm. You all made us feel so welcome. I am going to put a review on www.Euan’s Guide.com because I really think that more people need to know about your facilities.
Thank you very much for allowing us to see the lambs and the horses. We really appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to show us the animals and get involved with feeding them. Thank you very much again and we hope to see you again very soon.
My wife and I stayed at “The Martins”, with our two daughters and their partners and our Labrador. My wife is full-time in a wheelchair and we brought our Sara Stedy for use in the cottage. The accessibility of the Cottage and outside area to the rear is excellent and the interior is ideal for a mix of wheelchair and able-bodied persons. We stayed on the ground floor, in a twin bedded room and our own superb wetroom. Our daughters & Co had the two upstairs en suite bedrooms, which gave us good separation.
The accommodation is well appointed and equipped. It’s location is ideal for Keswick and the Northern and Western Lakes, with lots of attractions within reasonable driving distance

EV Owners please note: The cottages and farm electrical sockets are not suitable for charging Electric Vehicles (EV’s) as this puts excess unplanned load on our limited farm electrical infrastructure. We are also prohibited, in our contract with our commercial electricity provider, from re-selling their electricity to third parties. Electric vehicle charging is therefore not permitted at this time. A list of available charge points is available via this link.
We provide charging for disability scooters and w/chairs free located in the Games Room.
